Amethyst opened in the heart of downtown Bethesda on November 15, 2008. Friends and family shopped at the store and celebrated the Grand Opening with champagne and chocolate. Amethyst gave away free gifts to customers through hourly drawings. Customer and friend Bethanne Bond was surprised to receive a necklace designed by Amethyst's own Amy Hugo.
